Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their growing mechanical division. This is a brilliant opportunity for a professional to manage a range of commercial projects across South Wales and the wider UK, from concept design through to completion and post-handover.
The Role
The successful candidate will be overall responsible for ensuring projects are completed in accordance with specifications and drawings, to a high standard, within the allocated time schedule, and within budget. You will work collaboratively with the team to maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, and colleagues.
📋 Key Responsibilities
- Full Project Lifecycle Management: Managing all aspects of commercial projects from estimation and concept design to final commissioning and handover.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Writing and managing risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work.
- Team & Subcontractor Management: Supervising internal operatives and managing subcontractors to ensure installations are compliant with drawings and specifications.
- Procurement: Handling the timely procurement of plant and materials within allocated budgets while ensuring specification compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Utilizing internal QA procedures to record and track the quality of workmanship throughout the project.
- Progress Reporting: Monitoring site progress and supporting customers by attending various site meetings.
- Financial Tracking: Working closely with the Quantity Surveyor to track the project’s financial performance.
✅ Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Building Services Project Manager on large-scale new build and refurbishment commercial projects.
- Qualifications: HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services is required.
- Leadership: Strong people management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
- Technical Skills: Overall knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical systems and their installation methods; high level of IT literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Driving License: Must hold a full UK driving license.
- Travel: Must be willing to manage projects that require overnight stays across the UK.
📅 Typical Working Week
- Hours: 40 hours per week (8 AM – 5 PM Monday to Thursday; 8 AM – 4 PM Friday).
- Overtime: Occasional weekend work or overtime may be required.
- Salary: Dependent on experience (discussed at interview).
