Mechanical Project Manager

Swansea

Job Brief

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead a range of mechanical installation projects in Swansea.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will act as the primary point of contact for the client while managing site teams and subcontractors to maintain high standards of workmanship.

📋 Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Overseeing mechanical projects from initial design and procurement through to final commissioning and handover.
  • Financial Management: Monitoring project budgets, managing variations, and working closely with the commercial team to ensure profitability.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Managing mechanical subcontractors and internal labour to ensure all works align with project specifications.
  • Health & Safety: Developing and enforcing site-specific RAMS and ensuring a “safety-first” culture across all managed sites.
  • Technical Compliance: Reviewing drawings and technical specifications to ensure all installations meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • Client Liaison: Attending progress meetings and providing regular updates to stakeholders and the end client.

✅ Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Proven track record as a Mechanical Project Manager, ideally with experience in commercial or residential new-build projects in the Swansea/South Wales area.
  • Certifications: SMSTS, CSCS Black/Gold Card, and a relevant HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and IT skills (Microsoft Office/Project).
  • Driving License: Full UK driving license is required.

🛡 Responsible Recruitment & JSL Compliance Notice

In response to the UK’s shifting labour enforcement landscape and the introduction of Joint & Several Liability (JSL) in April 2026, our agency operates to the highest possible compliance standards to protect our clients from unbudgeted tax liabilities.

  • Eliminating the “Connected” Risk: Under JSL rules, a client becomes directly liable for unpaid taxes if their agency is financially connected to the umbrella company used. We have no financial or structural ties to any umbrella provider, ensuring an independent and compliant supply chain.
  • High-Risk Sector Protection: HMRC has identified Construction as a primary target for enforcement. We mitigate this risk by providing full, real-time audit trails for every worker.
  • Real-Time Auditing (SafeRec): We utilize SafeRec to provide monthly, independent audits of all payslips. This ensures that PAYE and NICs are calculated correctly and that “due diligence” is backed by actual data.
  • Defence Against Liability: The new legislation states that “having undertaken due diligence” is not a valid defence against liability. Our systems are designed to provide the proven compliance that HMRC demands to protect your business.
  • Single-Supplier Transparency: We operate a transparent, non-subcontracted supply chain, ensuring that every worker on your site is fully traceable.

Pier Benefits
