Meet the Team – Rebecca, Financial Controller
Meet our favourite payroller, Rebecca, who we are happy to say is now in her fifth year at Pier. Find out a bit more about her:
What is your role in P.I.E.R?
I am the Financial Controller for Pier. My main responsibility is ensuring that all our temps are paid weekly, so you could say I have the most important job in the business! I make sure that the Resourcers get all the timesheets in by the deadline, run the payroll and send the hours over to the umbrella companies. The rest of the time I help our Finance Manager Michaela with processing payments and uploading invoices and I manage day to day things like making sure there is enough coffee in the office to keep up with Paul’s (our Managing Director) ten cups a day.
Tell us about your background
When I finished school I started work as an administrator at a local solicitors firm, where I mostly spent my days typing up legal documents. I started at Pier in 2015 where the job was a bit more varied. I was answering calls, sending our registration packs and setting up placements. I showed an interest in the financial side of things and here we are today!
What do you bring to the team?
Oh, that’s a difficult one! I bring a smile to the office every day. And my colleagues tell me I have an “elephant memory”; I remember everything and can remind people of what days they have booked off or what they are doing on the weekend when they can’t remember themselves!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Well compared to the others in the office I’m very well behaved. I do like to treat myself every now and then to a little shopping spree on the weekend.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go to the Maldives; who wouldn’t. It looks like paradise and the perfect place to spend time relaxing by the pool and beach.
What is one thing about you people would be surprised to learn?
That would be my age… but I’m keeping that one a secret!
Which celebrity would you most like to have dinner with and why?
I would love to have dinner with Olly Murs. He’s my favourite singer and he seems like a fun guy! I think he’d be a laugh.
If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would buy?
I would go straight to Devon and look for the perfect house there. I have gone on holiday to Devon since I was little and the area holds a lot of good memories for me so it would be great to live down there.
What is the craziest thing you’ve done?
I think the scariest thing I have ever done was scuba diving. I tried it out when I was on holiday in Malta with my family. It is such a strange experience looking up and seeing nothing but water above you.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Well hopefully still working for Pier! And progressing through the company.
